Sunday morning’s threatening skies yielded to early afternoon sunshine on September 29, 2013, when about 75 CNC First Decaders and early CNC faculty, along with former CNC President Jim Windsor and guests—plus one 3-legged dog, Annie—gathered at Shelter 19 in Newport News Park for our second annual Reunion Picnic. Many thanks to this year’s chef, Wade Williams (FD 68), who, assisted by his lovely granddaughter Savannah, provided us with delicious grilled burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and marinated, boneless/skinless chicken breasts. Attendees also contributed a wonderful variety of side dishes and desserts. A marvelous time was had by all!
In addition to Wade and Savannah, thanks go also to our Chairman, Cap’n Dave Spriggs (FD 66), our Treasurer, Sonny Short (FD 64), retired professors Harold Cones and Sam Bauer, and others who pitched in to help set up for our Picnic and/or to clean up after it.
So far, two members of the Class of 1966 have sent us photos—Ellen Babb Melvin and Charlie Snead. Posted below are photos from Charlie. We will add Ellen’s photos next Friday (October 11)—plus other photos we might receive by next Wednesday. And If you missed this reunion, try to attend the next one, which will be the last Sunday in September of 2014.
